Fall and Halloween cards from Maggie Moore Studio

As I'm writing this I really can't believe it is the last day of September and we are heading into October and all things fall.  While we love fall, this shit is moving way too fast! And you know we're going to start speeding towards Christmas and next thing you know it will be 2026.  We are busy working on new stationery designs for Christmas (we're way late) and Valentine's Day!

Stationery Pop Up at Brightside boutique in fells point

Here at Maggie Moore, September kept us busy with two events.  Maybe not busy for some, but Lord knows we don't get out much. First up was a Stationery pop up at Brightside Boutique in Fells Point.  When you're in the stationery biz, pop ups can be iffy.  They don't always go well.  We did one years ago where I manned a table all day and made one $20 sale, so we're a little bit hesitant when the opportunity comes up.  But we are happy to report that this one was a success.  I got to hang out in the shop all day, chat up some folks and do some browsing myself.  Brightside has such cute clothes if you are looking to shop a local woman owned biz, along with super fun and sassy gifts, stationery and bonus points for great Ravens gear which was flying out of the store that day. How cute is the Crab Cake onesie with our Ravens baby card?

Only in Smalltimore

I also had quite the Smalltimore moment standing at my Maggie Moore table set up right in the huge windows overlooking Thames Street in Fells Point.  It was a gorgeous day by the water and it was great for people watching as folks strolled by, until who should stop right in front of the store to chat up a few gentlemen standing on the sidewalk but my supreme, a-hole former boss who fired me in January.  And there he is standing 6 feet away from me!  What are the odds? I had to shield myself behind my Maggie Moore display until he went on his way.  Usually Smalltimore moments are fun, but this one was a nightmare hon'!

ladies night!

Next up, a few days later we made our way around the harbor to Ladies Night at Ace Hardware in Federal Hill.  Yes, you read that right.  Ladies Night at the Hardware store!  If you haven't been to one of the Ace Hardware stores in Federal Hill, Canton, or Waverly, they are a different breed of Hardware store.  Employee owned, everyone there is beyond super helpful and welcoming and they even have a store mascot, Millie the Tool Cat who of course has her own Instagram. Not only do they carry everything you would think of that you might find at a hardware store, they also have the best stationery and greeting cards (we might be a little biased), stickers, toys and gifts and a delicious snack selection. Ladies Night was such a fun event and if you missed it we will be at the next one in the Canton store, October 14th. Hint, hint! The first 50 women in the door got a free goodie bag and let me tell you, those ladies were lined up outside.  The bags were gone in a matter of a few minutes. There was food, cooked on a Big Green Egg of course, and DJ Ace provided the musical entertainment.  Freebies were handed out throughout the evening as shoppers roamed the store enjoying 20% off, and vendors were scattered throughout the store including Peabody Heights Brewery to sample their latest beers. I got to try the Charm City Meadworks Pumpkin, now produced at their brewery which was super yum, giving all the fall feels. It was fun to chat with so many ladies out for a fun evening, and of course it was great to hear that many of them always buy their Maggie Moore cards from Ace! Celebrating a win and added bonus, we delivered our biggest stationery order to date to the store last month!

Annie Demm, our favorite local influencer gave us a shout out on Instagram at the beginning of the month which was super exciting!  If you are in Baltimore and you are not following her, drop everything and give her a follow now.  She has all kinds of recommendations on the coolest spots around town and sometimes beyond.  There is a reason Baltimore Magazine named her the city's Best Cheerleader

You can find Maggie Moore stationery at three new shops this month! First up is Happy Frog Ink in East Bridgewater, MA.  Fun fact, Bridgewater is next door to where I went to high school back in the day. If you're on the Eastern Shore, grab all your essentials and a card at St. Michael's Market. Closer to home we're excited to be partnered with Faidley's Seafood which is an iconic Baltimore seafood spot in Lexington Market. They love our Jumbo Lump Crab Cake card! Not only can you find our cards there, but we are working on a custom collaboration so stay tuned for that! I'm embarrassed to say I don't think I've ever had a world famous Faidley Crab Cake so Sam and I have added that to our to do list!

Even Moore Stuff

What else can we tell you? Survivor is back and we are all in!  We've also been watching The Paper on Peacock for fans of The Office.  Baseball season for Orioles fans may be over but as a Bostonian and a Red Sox fan, I'm a tiny bit excited for October Baseball.  We certainly didn't expect to be here. I just watched the three part documentary, Believers on ESPN about the psyche of Red Sox fans and man could I relate.  It was so good and after rewatching the 2004 Red Sox beat the Yankees for the AL Pennant (it never gets old), now I might be a little too fired up for our Wild Card series against the New York.  Also shout out to my husband for watching yet another Red Sox documentary with me. He really is a saint. I guess it's payback for all the mafia docs I've watched with him.  What is it with guys and Mafia shows?

Your Faves of September

Back to stationery, we dropped some new baby cards this month that you can find here. But your favorite card of September might be a surprise.  It was Hello from Connecticut in the top spot again this month thanks to a huge special order! And don't sleep on prints which make the perfect gift as the time of year rolls around.  Your Maryland Fave print was a fave again! To see all this and Moore come out and see us in October at Ladies Night at Ace in Canton and Bits and Bobs at Cross Keys on October 18th!  Yes we're getting out in real life again and we would love to see you!  Thanks for all your support!
